History
Let's go back in time to see where it all began.
The Word of His Grace started on August 14, 1994, with Pastors Samuel and Velma Phillips, along with 14 other adult members. The church name was established and inspired by the Lord and based on the scriptures found in Acts 20:32 which reads, "And now brethren, I commend you to God and the Word of His Grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all them who are sanctified."
The Word of His Grace held its first two services in the pastor’s home and because of quick growth, moved its Sunday services to Kenly Recreation Center located in Tampa, FL., while continuing to have bible study in their home every Wednesday night. In April of 1995, because of its rapid growth, the W.O.H.G. moved to 121 Kings Ave North, Brandon, FL. Seven years later, in 2002, W.O.H.G. moved to its current campus like atmosphere located at 2506 S. Parsons Ave, Seffner, FL.
In the summer of 1995 while in prayer and fasting, Pastor Phillips received a word from the Lord, a mandate that said, “I want you to comfort them that mourn; especially those that mourn in Zion and this church shall be known as "The Healing Center.” Immediately, Pastor Phillips knew that word came from the 61st Chapter of Isaiah and it became the foundation of the vision of the Word of His Grace. He shared it with his wife, Pastor Velma and the congregation. As senior Pastors of The Word of His Grace Christian Fellowship, they moved on this inspiration from God to write the vision and to establish a healing center.
In twenty years, they have carefully and skillfully guided God's flock through this blessed, but sometimes-challenging journey from its small beginnings in their Brandon home to this beautiful, campus-like facility. The Word of His Grace have come this far by faith, truly trusting and leaning on the Lord. As the congregation followed Pastor Phillips’ faith; in December of 1998, although, the church did not have the resources; God blessed them to purchase the current 8+ acres of land that they now occupy. By God's Gracious favor, the facility the church currently worship out of was given to them. In 2011, the W.O.H.G. purchased an additional 10 acres of land that lies directly across the street from their current location.
Pastor Phillips was ordained to the Office of Bishop in 2007. In 2014, after 20 years in ministry, Bishop Phillips accepted the Apostle’s anointing and to-date he oversees five ministries under the W.O.H.G Pastoral Alliance, including The Word of His Grace, Youngstown, Jamaica. Along with the W.O.H.G. Leadership, Apostle Phillips continues to be a blessing to these prosperous ministries.

Vision and Mission
The vision of the Word of His Grace Church is concentrated in 2 areas:
Evangelism & Education
The basic mission is to teach and preach the Word of God with such simplicity that it will bring salvation to the lost, mature and prepare believers for the living of life and the work of the ministry. This Vision is concentrated in two areas:
Evangelism: to present the Jesus Christ as the absolute solution to every problem through the power of the gospel.
Education: to promote Jesus Christ as Lord and provide Christian-based education for all people at every level of life.
Our Pastors have a real burden for people who are hurting. This burden from the Lord is to comfort them that mourn, especially those who mourn in Zion. Through divine revelation this church has been identified as "A Healing Center” for those who are already in the church operating from a false identity. It is a place of refuge where a torn and battered soul may come and find salvation and restoration from the pain and wounds inflicted by sin. Those with deviant behavior and addictions in all forms can come and be freed by the power of God. This is a place for counseling and teaching on how to resolve conflicts and get to the root of life's issues according to the Word of God.
The Characteristics of this Healing Center
Redemption: To bring salvation to the lost.
Recovery: To recover souls from false identities inflicted by sinful experiences and teach them how to live according to their identity in Christ Jesus.
Restoration: To be restored back to their destiny and purpose in Christ Jesus.
Reconciliation: To bring souls back into harmony with God, with themselves, and others.
Renewal: To renew their strength through the refreshing of the Holy Spirit that they may live a life of an overcomer through the Lord Jesus Christ.
This Healing Center exists to glorify God through the gospel of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit.
